Saudi Arabia has planted more than 12 million wild trees and shrubs in a bid to combat desertification. According to the Saudi Gazette, the National Centre for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) planted the trees while starting the Integrated Management and Sustainable Development of Pastures Project, which is part of the Kingdom's National Pasture Strategy Initiative, in line with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
Saudi Arabia is hiring for its ‘NEOM Airline’, confirms a job ad on the NEOM careers page. NEOM already operates direct flights to select regional and international destinations from its NEOM Bay Airport, using the current national carrier Saudia, which includes NEOM branded livery.

Saudi Arabia said on Tuesday it had been chosen to host the 2029 Asian Winter Games at a planned mountain resort in the kingdom's $500bn NEOM project. NEOM's yet-to-be-built TROJENA sports city was the only candidate for the 2029 Asian Winter Games, which have not been held since 2017 as the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has struggled to find hosts. Saudi Arabia will be the first country in the Middle East to host the games, which first took place in Japan in 1986.
Saudi Arabia’s mega-city NEOM plans to have its own dedicated airline. Arabian Business reported last month the US$500bn super city was considering its own carrier, following on from the country’s Saudia and the soon-to-be-launched RIA airlines.
Manhattan has been reimagined as a single long vertical city, in a similar manner to NEOM’s THE LINE in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia’s futuristic city of NEOM announced earlier this year THE LINE, a 170 km vertical city that can be travelled end to end in 20 minutes. THE LINE, part of the $500 billion NEOM project, will be built on a footprint of 34 square kilometres.
